About the Artist
Negroni’s Trio is a three-time GRAMMY®-nominated jazz ensemble recognized internationally for its distinctive combination of jazz tradition, classical influences, Latin and international rhythms, contemporary sounds, virtuosity, and improvisation.
Led by the father-and-son musical partnership of pianist and composer José Negroni and drummer Nomar Negroni, the trio has developed a unique musical identity and an international career spanning more than two decades.
ABOUT NEGRONI’S TRIO
Founded in the early 2000s, Negroni’s Trio has grown from a musical collaboration between father and son into an internationally recognized jazz ensemble. Throughout its career, the trio has released numerous recordings, earned three GRAMMY® nominations, and received extensive international radio airplay, reaching jazz audiences around the world.
Negroni’s Trio has performed at major jazz festivals, performing arts centers, theaters, and renowned jazz venues throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia, including New York’s legendary Blue Note Jazz Club.
Over more than two decades of recording and touring, the trio has developed a musical language that brings together jazz improvisation, classical influences, Latin and international rhythms, contemporary jazz, and original compositions.
At the center of the group is the musical connection between José and Nomar Negroni — two generations sharing the same stage, each bringing a distinct musical personality to a conversation that has evolved over more than two decades.
The trio is joined by different virtuoso guest bassists, each bringing their own musical voice, personality, and creative energy to the performance. This evolving collaboration adds another dimension of spontaneity to the music, making each Negroni’s Trio concert a unique experience.
THE MUSIC
At the heart of Negroni’s Trio is a distinctive musical language shaped by the contrasting yet complementary backgrounds of José and Nomar Negroni.
Pianist and composer José Negroni’s classical music background brings a lyrical and sophisticated dimension to his compositions, with strong melodies, rich harmonies, and a sense of musical structure influenced by both the classical tradition and jazz.
Drummer Nomar Negroni brings a powerful rhythmic identity to the music, blending jazz improvisation with Latin, fusion, and contemporary rhythmic influences from around the world. It is the meeting of these two musical worlds — the lyrical and classical influence of José’s compositions and Nomar’s jazz, Latin, fusion, and contemporary rhythmic approach — that has become one of the defining characteristics of the Negroni’s Trio sound. The result is music that moves naturally between delicate, lyrical passages and powerful rhythmic moments, while always maintaining melody and improvisation at its core.
Negroni’s Trio respects the tradition of jazz while bringing its own fresh and contemporary perspective to the stage. The repertoire combines José Negroni’s original compositions, contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, reimagined standards, memorable melodies, and sophisticated arrangements, always leaving room for improvisation and spontaneous musical interaction.
Rather than simply reproducing the recordings, every live performance becomes a musical conversation. The interaction between piano, drums, and bass allows the music to evolve on stage, making every concert different from the one before. Classical lyricism. Jazz improvisation. Latin and international rhythms. Contemporary energy. Together, these elements define the unmistakable musical identity of Negroni’s Trio.
