ABOUT THE ARTIST
Greg Diamond is a jazz guitarist, composer, and crossover classical artist whose work bridges modern jazz, Latin American traditions, and contemporary performance. Latin Jazz Network calls him a "composer of great maturity and genius," while Acoustic Guitar magazine praises his "deep harmonic language and unerring sense of groove." Born in New York City to a Colombian mother and a Juilliard-trained Jewish pianist father, Diamond grew up steeped in both classical music and Latin rhythms. He has performed at The Blue Note New York, Iridium, Joe’s Pub, and Smalls, and at festivals including Madrid International Jazz Festival, Barranquijazz, AJAZZGO Cali, Medejazz, Jazz Ahead, Nublu Jazz Festival, and Jazz Al Parque, and was a semifinalist in the 2007 Gibson International Jazz Guitar Competition at Montreux, performing before George Benson. He holds a DMA in Jazz Performance from the Frost School of Music, serves as adjunct professor of jazz guitar at FIU, and sits on the U.S. Fulbright Specialist Roster. In 2026, he received a Chamber Music America New Jazz Works grant for a new project with his New York– Miami sextet.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
For his upcoming show with the Greg Diamond Group, guitarist and composer Greg Diamond leads audiences through a set of Latin-infused contemporary jazz, pulling from Colombian, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian traditions alongside the modern jazz language he's built his career on. Born in New York to a Colombian mother and a Juilliard-trained Jewish pianist father, Diamond grew up steeped in both classical music and Latin rhythms, a duality that still drives his writing today. Expect original compositions with engaging melodies and infectious rhythms that move fluidly between genres. This is music built for a band that searches for the connective tissue between jazz and the Americas.
